Dear Parents and Carers,
It's been another great week of hard work in Year Five.
Writing
This week, we continued reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. We have thought about what we might need to survive on a desert island and have learnt abour parentheses. We will be ready to write our instructions on how to survive on a desert island next week.
Maths
We have been continuing our topic of 'Multiplication and Division'. We have been working on different methods of division including grouping place value counters and the bus stop method. In addition, we have started mastering number sessions in the afternoons, aimed at increasing our fluency in mutiplication even further.
Geography
In Geography, we have countinued our topic, What is life like in the Alps. This week we discussed some physical and human features.
Design and Technology
This week we have started to create the backdrop for our pop-up books. We are thinking carefully how to make the books eyecatching and appropriate for younger pupils.
Reading Diaries
We would like to remind you that all children should be reading at least 5 times a week. Reading more together is incredibly beneficial and it will help the children in school, especially in their English lessons!
