NURSERY
NURSERY
What an exciting two weeks we've had in Nursery!
We've been busy little learners, progressing our knowledge of initial sounds. We're even practising writing the first letter of our names now! In maths, we've been racing cars and measuring how far they go – zooming all the way to number 15!
To develop those all-important fine motor skills, the children embarked on a bear rescue mission! They carefully retrieved bears from the "water" and sorted them into matching coloured pots.
The chilly weather has brought frosty mornings to the nursery, transforming our water trays into icy wonderlands! We explored the textures and shapes of the ice, and even created a mini ice rink for our Happyland people before gleefully smashing it and investigating the icy shards.
With Christmas just around the corner, we're getting ready for our festive sing-along. The children are having a wonderful time practising their songs and we can't wait to share their performance with you soon!
RECEPTION
It's been another fantastic fortnight in Reception!
The children had a blast celebrating Children in Need with lots of Pudsey-themed activities, including making creative patterns on Pudsey faces.
In maths, we explored number composition using tools like the part-whole model, and the children continue to impress us with their understanding of number representation. We also learned new vocabulary and compared groups, with a focus on understanding "more than.
This week, we've been learning about birthday celebrations around the world! The children have been sharing how their families celebrate birthdays, which has been a wonderful way to practice their communication skills. We read "Kipper's Birthday," and the children loved planning their own imaginary parties. This inspired some amazing birthday cards and papercraft cakes at the creative table.
In phonics, we've been learning about phase 2 digraphs and working hard on our blending skills to help us read and write more fluently.
This week we learned about road safety and how to cross the road safely as part of Road Safety Week. The children enjoyed an interactive role-play scenario on our track where children practiced using a zebra crossing with bikes and scooters!
We look forward to more fun and learning next week!
