Year 5 have had a brilliant end to this half term!
Year 5 have produced some fantastic work in English over the past two weeks. We have been focusing on the ;London Eye Mystery' book and have written a setting description based on the South Bank and the London Eye. The children really considered the different type of language they can include and the features to write a good setting description. We were able to focus on noun phrases, parenthesis and the 5 senses to up level their writing.Â
In maths, we have been learning about some trickier concepts such as factors and multiples. The children have made a really good start at recognising what factors are and have used factor bugs to try and identify the amount of factors. It is really important the children are practising their times tables as this will really support their learning in class.
We have also investigated the effect water resistance has on a range of objects. The children were able to recognise that streamlined objects travel through the water quicker as there is less surface area for the water to hit. In History, the children completed their 'Dynamic Dynasties' topic, looking at the hierachy of the Dynasty and how the Shang Dynasty ended. The children had fun completing a time to climb to assess their learning!
We had a wondeful trip to the London Eye! We were able to think of a range of theories as to why Salim went missing! We were also very lucky to take part in a Now Press Play event looking at reducing our carbon footprint. The children took part in a now press play and then had a question and answer session about the different ways to reduce the carbon footprint.
Well doen for all of your hard work across the half term year 5! We hope you have a restfiul week.
