What a great first week back Year 6 have had!
Writing
Our young writers have been busy exploring the exciting world of persuasive writing! They've collaborated with their classmates to create imaginative advertisements for unusual products like finger treadmills, honing their skills in crafting compelling arguments. In the coming weeks, our students will be putting their persuasive powers to the test by designing eye-catching leaflets for Camp Green Lake. We can't wait to see their creative approaches to convincing others to visit this unique destination.
Maths
Year 6 have been diving deep into fractions! We've mastered dividing fractions by one-digit and two-digit numbers. We've applied these skills to SATs-style questions, reasoning challenges, and problem-solving puzzles. We're excited to see how these skills will help us in future mathematical adventures!
Science
In science, they dove headfirst into the world of light in our first lesson! Armed with torches, they explored how light travels in straight lines. By experimenting with paper barriers, they discovered how light can be blocked or cast shadows. It was a bright start to our light unit, full of fun and discovery
Geography
In our first geography lesson, we delved into the fascinating world of global population. We explored how it has dramatically increased over time, examining factors like advancements in healthcare and science. We also learned about the historical challenges, such as diseases, poor hygiene, and conflicts, that limited population growth in the past, particularly around 1500. To visualize these trends, we practiced plotting data and analysing the relationship between population and time.
Design and Technology
This week in Design and Technology, we've been exploring the exciting world of flavours! The children have been busy taste testers, discovering how different foods complement each other. They've loved using their taste buds to identify these flavour pairings and are eager to apply this knowledge to create their own delicious recipes. Get ready for some tasty treats in the future!

In total, you should spend between 1 hour and 1 hour and a half on your homework.
Spelling tests will be every Friday
Reading diaries will be checked every Monday
