NURSERY
It's been wonderful to see all the children settle back into school so well after the half-term break. We've had an action-packed first week back, filled with learning and laughter!
Our new topic, 'Celebrations', has been a real hit! The children have been busy making pretend cakes and singing "Happy Birthday" at the playdough station, hosting lively tea parties in our new bakery role-play area, and creating beautiful Rangoli patterns for Diwali. We've also delved into the world of phonics, exploring initial sounds with large letters and using cars to form the shapes.
With Bonfire Night just behind us, we had important discussions about firework safety and enjoyed listening to the children share their own bonfire night experiences.
It has been an exciting first week back, and we are eagerly anticipating all the festive celebrations that are still to come!
RECEPTION
We've had a fantastic start to the second half of the Autumn term! The children returned to school excited and ready to learn, diving headfirst into our new topic, "Celebrations."
This week, we focused on Diwali and Remembrance Day. The children had a wonderful time designing diya lamps and creating their own Rangoli and Mehndi patterns.
In phonics, we're continuing to build those early reading and blending skills. It's been amazing to see some learners starting to blend sounds together to read and write simple words like "cat" and "dog.
The outdoor classroom has a brand new role-play area! Our popular Fossil Dig site has been transformed into a bustling Baby Clinic, where our budding nurses and doctors care for a steady stream of patients. The role play area remains incredibly popular and helps develop essential early years skills like collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and turn-taking.
In maths, we're exploring numbers in more depth, looking at how numbers are made up, what they represent as a whole, and how many things each number stands for. We're building on their knowledge of the number 5 and introducing the concept of representing numbers in different way
We look forward to more fun and learning next week!
