What another fantastic few weeks we have had in year 6!Â
Writing This week, our Year 6 pupils have been delving into the world of Holes by Louis Sachar. As Stanley Yelnats, they have written informal letters to their mothers, expressing their thoughts and feelings about their experiences at Camp Green Lake. Through these letters, the children have been able to explore the character of Stanley and develop their understanding of the novel's themes.
Maths In Maths, we have been tackling division within word problems. The children have been applying their division skills to real-world scenarios, such as sharing sweets or dividing up toys. They have also been learning to identify the key information in word problems and choose the appropriate operation to solve them.
Science Our science lessons have been filled with creativity and fun. The children have had a blast creating their own invertebrates out of play dough. By using diagrams and labels, they have learned to classify these creatures and understand their unique characteristics.
History In history, we have been exploring the fascinating world of the Maya Civilization. The children have been writing like historians, using sources of evidence, such as pictures, to gain a better understanding of the Maya building. They have learned about the incredible architecture of the Maya and the complex society that existed in their empire.
Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time celebrating National Poetry Day! They joined thousands of schools across the country in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest poetry lesson taught in an hour. We were all so excited to be part of this historic event and can't wait to find out if we were successful.
