This year we will be focusing on celebrating student achievement and look forward to sharing this with you in upcoming newsletters.
Travel Training
In September, two cohorts of students embarked on the RBG Travel Training course. Over the space of a few months, they have developed the skills to navigate their way around our community independently and safely. Last week, as a celebratory treat, their course leader took some of our Year 7s on a trip to Blackheath Standard to practise their travelling and shopping skills. A big congratulations

LAB Raw
This summer, members of the SEND team began a specialist gardening club for students. The club aims to provide a calm and creative space to engage with the natural world using strategies from Forest School provisions. We are also keeping one eye on the emerging Natural History GCSE offer…
LAB RAW have been focusing on brushing up their watering skills over the past few weeks...that's their vegetable seeds and themselves! Here's just a few of our Y7 attendees cooling off with the hose.

ADHD Friendly Schools Award
This year we have pledged to ensure our school has inclusive provision that ensures equal opportunities for everyone in the school community with ADHD; that includes students and staff! In order to accredit, we have provided a variety of CPD sessions to staff, implemented sensory circuit intervention in our gym, collaboratively create 5-step plans with students that include movement breaks, provide tactile resources in every classroom and held an assembly to raise awareness and understanding amongst our student cohort. A big thank you to the team and Mr Peel-Evans for all of your hard work.
Interventions
This year, a plethora of targeted interventions have been offered to our students to help them develop specific skills and work towards their individual outcomes. We have run Social Thinking groups, Drawing and Talking sessions, Numeracy Ninjas, ELKLAN, Represent!, The Hackney Lit programme and SALT. It has been wonderful to see the student’s progress, and enjoy attending these interventions. As you can see, we have a creative bunch!

SEND Celebrations
This year we have had many events to celebrate the LAB values demonstrated by our students with additional needs. We celebrated Easter with an egg hunt and bonnet making competition. On Friday 18th July, we will hold an end of module celebration for our KS3 students before they head off for the summer.
