As the academic year draws to a close, it’s a perfect time to celebrate the many successes and achievements across our wonderful Airy community. A huge well done to our Airy Year 8 students for the incredible work they’ve been doing on their First Give charity projects. As part of their social action work, students have raised both awareness and funds for a range of local Greenwich charities. More details about their inspiring efforts can be seen on the other newsletter pages, but we’d like to give a special mention to our two Airy tutor groups for their exceptional commitment: 8F for their support of the Woolwich Service User Project. 8C for their work with Home Start Greenwich. We are delighted to share that 8C was awarded the £1000 charity donation for their charity. In addition to this Three of our Fantastic Y8 students ran a “3 Lads 3 Marathons” campaign. Finlay 8C, Joe 8C and Herbie 8F have so far raised a phenomenal £ £1,318 so far. Here is the link to their Go Fund Me page for anyone that would like to donate to the students

A special mention to some of our fantastic Y8 and 9 Airy, Nailah R, Oliver P, Aliyah M, Eser A and Devine who took part in the Power2 Thrive project this academic year. Part of the project Power2 Thrive provides a tailored experience for secondary-aged students, taking them out of their usual school environment for one morning or afternoon a week and into a nursery setting to mentor a younger child for 16 weeks. In doing so, they form meaningful friendships with the children while actively supporting their learning and development. The feedback from the primary school students staff and Power2 Coordinators was phenomenal. We are very proud of them. Successful completion of the programme means young people achieve a nationally recognised NCFE Level 1 qualification in Interpersonal Skills.

On 5th July, we were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 students for Headstart Day. It was a pleasure to meet our future Airy students and begin building those important connections ahead of September.
A special thank you goes to our outstanding Airy ambassadors; Valentina, Spencer, Nathan, Myranda, and Melek, who did a fantastic job supporting the new students throughout the day. Their warmth and leadership helped ensure that everyone felt safe, welcome, and excited about starting their journey at LAB.
One of the highlights was an impromptu "tie tutorial" during break time, led entirely by our ambassadors. A perfect example of the Airy spirit in action!
