We are grateful to the following individuals who have guest lectured or given input into the class design

2024 Guest Lecturers and Contributors

Branden Marty, CEO of Veteran Roasters, and a guru of the coffee business came to our class in Spring 2021 and Fall 2022 to discuss his path toward the coffee industry and running a specialized coffee company.

Elizabeth Ocker, Lehigh ChBE Alumnae and Process Engineer for kdc/one will talk to us about her experience in entering the world of cosmetics and designing chemical engineering processes and product design.  Welcome back Lizzie!

Dr. John Riley, an Associate Research Scientist for the Analytical Sciences, Core R&D at Dow will come to the classroom to discuss development of hair care products, surface science, and rheology.

Past Guest Lecturers and Contributors

Dr. William Hartt from Proctor and Gamble came to our class in March 2021 to discuss engineering and scale up of consumer products.  Dr. Hartt is Technical Section Head for Global Engineering at the Procter & Gamble Company in Cincinnati OH and an expert on mixing and scale-up of complex fluid processes.

Dr. Ronni Weinkauf is Vice President of Applied Research and Research & Innovation at L'Oreal.  Dr. Weinkauf met with our course developers in July 2020, helping guide development of the cosmetics half of this course.  She (and/or her colleagues) may guest lecture in the future.

Dr. Xue Li is Research Investigator at International Flavors & Fragrances.  A past group member of the Laboratory for Particle Mixing and Self-Organization, she was critical in setting up our Automated Langmuir Blodgett roll-to-roll particle coating apparatus.  Dr. Li will guest lectured Spring 2021 and Fall 2022.

Professor Patrick Spicer at University of New South Wales in Sydney, AU is an expert on design of complex fluids and surface interactions to develop consumer products.  Professor Spicer has collaborated with Dr. Gilchrist for years and was his awesome host in Sydney in Summer 2016.  Professor Spicer met with our course developers in July 2020 to discuss his prior experience working at P&G and his research areas.
