Nine

17/03/2024 the first day:

Transport

Ik ben heel vroeg opgestaan, rond 5 uur. Op het vliegveld afscheid genomen van mijn ouders en mijn zus. Ik was wel nerveus om te vliegen. Op het vliegtuig hebben vrienden me wel kunnen gerust stellen. Moest natuurlijke ook een smoothie op mijn pull morsen. Bij het opstijgen van het vliegtuig had ik wel wat schrik, maar had wel super lieve mensen naast mij die me hebben geholpen. Op het vliegtuig wat gelezen en muziek geluisterd. Na het vliegen de bus genomen. We moesten daar ongeveer 3 uur opzitten. Maar we hebben vooral geslapen omdat we allemaal zo vroeg moesten opstaan.

Aankomst

Bij het toekomen met de bus ben ik opgehaald door Sonja en haar ouders. Ze hebben zich voorgesteld en we zijn samen naar hun huis gestapt.Heb me toen wat geïnstalleerd in men kamer. Daarna gingen we eten het waren super lekkere gehakt balletjes met puree en groentjes. Dan ben ik samen met Sonja en haar ouders naar de manege gegaan. Ze heeft me voorgesteld aan haar vrienden en haar trainer. Ze heeft toen wat uitleg over haar paard gegeven en heeft ze zitten rondrijden. Thuis aangekomen hebben we nog even een spelletje gespeeld en dan gaan slapen.

18/03/2024 the second day:

I woke up with a lot of energy , i slept verry wel and was excited for my first day in school. We had some breakfast and walked to school. It was a really short walk, the walk was probably 4 minutes. she lives right across the school. The schoolday started of really nice, we got a warm welcome with the music band. We then got a nice tour from our hosts of the school it is very different than from Belgium, they are more free then the students in Belgium. As an example, they can just leave the school whenever they want and go to the shop as long as they are in time for their classes. And after the tour we had a nice Swedish Fika. A Fika is a sort of coffee break and it is verry important for the Swedish people but also for the people from Finland.

After lunch we walked to the Ramunderberget. The walk to the mountain was okay? but the walk on the mountait to the top was a bit more intense but it was all worth it because the view was amazing, and there was still a lot of snow in the mountains. But we didn't just need to walk to the top of the mountain there was obviously an assignment ivolved. So we got a paper and there were photos of animals and plants on and we had to find them in the forest. We did find some plants but we didn't fide any animals cus we were a bit to loud.

After our walk we had a cooking class, we had to make cinnamon rolls. We got separeted in differten groups Swedish and Belgian kids together. The instructions were in Swedish so they translated it for us. It wasn't too difficult to make and i learned some new tricks. It was really fun and i loved seeing the difference between us baking and doing everything in the kitchen.

After school Sonja and I walked back home i finished some work and after that we had dinner. It was again super delicious, it was pasta with an amazing sauce. Sonja and i took a walk after dinner. She showed the village and told some interesting facts about places. She also found out about my fears of birds and ducks cus i was almost attacked by one. And we learned each other some sentences from our language. I had an amazing first day at the school.

19/03/2024 the third day:

We started the day of with the presentations about Belgium. We talked about a lot as an example, the different languages that we speak ,about Geraardsbergen and our school. After that we had a tour of the village and learned a bit more about the history. A big part of the village was under water in the past. They also digged a lot of shoes, clothes and fabric in a street so now they know that that was probably the street where they made shoes. After lunch we took the bus to Norrköping and went to the Visualiseringscenter. They gave us a tour around the building and there were a lot of screens. On the screen you could do stuff involving the climate, so you could learn about the climate in a fun way. For example there was a screen and on thes screen there was a plate, at the bottem of the screen there where all types of food and drinks if you moved the food or drinks you eat on a dealy bassis you saw how much effect your meal had on the climate. After we finished the tour of 4 floors, we watched a movie in 3D. The movie was about all cells that we come in contact with daily. It started of with a leaf and then explained how everything worked in the leaf we went so far that it is impossible to see with your naked eye what happens. We also saw some other cells and at the end of the movie they compared normal things like an appel or a bee and went down the line and it got smaller and smaller at the end we finnished with the tiniest cel. It was an amazing idea now i realise how small cels actually are. When the school day finished we all went to the jumping park. It was a really interesting day, but a really tiring one. Learned a lot of new thing and i am exited about what tomorrow is going to bring.

20/03/2024 the fourth day:

De dag startte vroeg maar heb wat geslapen in de bus. We kwamen toe in de Zoo en kregen daar wat uitleg over het park, met wie dat ze samen werken en hoe dat de bezoekers helpen voor een betere dingen voor de dieren. Daarna gingen we naar de dieren kijken, tijdens het rondkijken naar de dieren kregen we ook nog goede info over de dieren. Be voorbeeld bij de olifanten kregen we papieren waar er jobs opstonden die mensen deden zoals: jagen, verkopers, kopers,... . En zo legde ze ons uit wat we moeten doen om dat te stoppen of wat er zou moeten gebeuren om alles te voorkomen. Maar men favoriete moment van de dag waren de dolfijnen, wat voor truckjes ze allemaal kunnen en hoe dat ze omgaan met de dieren. Maar het grappige was toen dat de dolfijnen objecten naar ons toe gooide vanuit het water. Overal was de dag heel leuk en interessant. Daarna gingen we met Emma, Ebba, Jasper en Maité plus hun Zweden natuurlijk shoppen en daarna gingen we naar dit restaurant dat Pinchos noemt. In het restaurant kun je dan precies tapas bestellen maar eigenlijk is het normaal eten maar dan in een kleinere vorm en je kon altijd blijven bij bestellen, het was echt super lekker werd er een beetje emotioneel van omdat het zo lekker was.

21/03/2024 the fifth day:

Music quiz

We started the day of with a quiz about European music. I was very excited because I know a lot about european music and i really wanted to win. Some questions where easier than others but if it was something about ABBA or Eurovision I immediately knew the answer. Because our theam worked good together, we won. I was verry happy and the started of good.

Art class

After the quiz we went to art class. We had to make a poster about sustainable society. How did we do that? First we had to make a sketch, we put post-its on a normal A4 paper. On the post-its we had to write different themes of sustainable society with a little drawing. We used the themes: Eco-food, second hand items, sunenergy and deforestation. After we finished our sketch and we drew our ideas on the big paper. We weren't finished so tommorow morning we will finish it.

Tekniska Verken

Tekniska Verken is a district heating plant. So from waste they make heat for the other houses nearby. We started of with a tour, they explained the whole process and showed us the places where that happened. First a machine grabs trash and throws it into a hole. It leads to a place where it melts the trash and so it goes on. They also have a place where they collect the dust that gets created. In the tour there where a lot of elevators and i HATE elevators. After the tour we had a little pause, drank a bit of water and got ready for the next part. Anna gave us a presentation about bio-gas. What all happens and what we can do to slow bad things and created a better environment. It was a bit boring but overall i had a nice day.

22/03/2024 the sixth day:

Art work

I woke up and it felt so weird that it was already the last day here. We started the day of finishing our art work about the Sustainable Society. We finished our drawings and colored them in. We used the topics eco-food, second hand, polution, sunenergy and deforestation.

Quiz

After art class we did a quiz about the Climate. We were put in groups with Swedish and Belgian kids together. At every table there was a big card with 4 letters of the alphabet, and we needed to write down the correct answers on a separate sheet. For example we had to guess which electrical device uses the most energy per hour. And so on we had to guess the right answer about the questions about the climate and invironment.

English class

Then we had an English lesson. First we got a paper with 14 questions about, how green i am. There where questions like do you sort out your trash or do you recycle. I scored a 26 on 28 that means that i care about the climate and that i try to do my best to help it. After that we had to read a text about Rainforests. I learned that 30% of the rainforests on the eart are in Brazil. And that the weather in the rainforests never changes it always stays rainy, warm and humid. And a lot more of course! Then we finished the lesson with a Quizlet live, it was a really fun game but you still learned some stuff.

Quiz walk

After lunch we did the Quiz walk Alboga. We had a paper and on the paper we had to put an X in the right square of the correct answer. During our walk we had to find papers and on the paper was a question with 3 options to choose the right anwser from. The questions where like what bag is the best to use and than you could choose between plastic, paper or cotton. Or what did global warming mean and what do we need to do to help it stop. At the end of our walk there was a sort of playground where we went kinda wild.

Bowling

To end our nice week with our Sweden hosts we went bowling. It was really fun i think i got 114 points. And i trew a strike but on eccident i did it in Emma's name so the strike didn't count for me. Then we had some burgers with fries. It was nice that we all got to get together for the last time, and have some fun.

Hotel

After we said our goodbyes to our hosts and their parents. We started our journey to Stockholm, the bus drive was about 2 and a half hours. It was fun on the bus we talked about how we felt during the trip and about going to stockholm. When we arrived we walked about 15 minuts to the hotel. It was a bit chaotic to all get checked in. We put all of our bags into the rooms. The rooms where a bit small but i thought that it was very cozy and we only needed to sleep there for the rest of the time we are going to do activities. And then we went to eat Mcdonald's. It was a very nice day and I am exited to see what Stockholm has in store for us.

23/03/2024 the seventh day:

ABBA Museum

It was the first night that i could sleep a little longer than usual. We had breakfast in Rex hotel, it was really good and my favorite thing to eat was toast with butter and jam. After breakfast we went with the whole group to the ABBA museum, it was about 50 minutes walking. In the museum there was so much stuff to do. We did some karaoke and danced. You could look at the holograms of the ABBA members and you could take a look at some iconic outfits. I enjoyed it so much because i am a big ABBA fan. And so of course I had to buy something from the gift shop, i bought a poster and a card.

Old City

After the museum we walked to the old city. We ate lunch in a cute sort of waffel shop but they also had sandwiches and pizzas. When we finished lunch we met up with the teachers. And then we went exploring the old city of Stockholm. We went inside a church where a choire was singing. We kept walking around and even went a little into the Royal palace.

Shopping

After we explored the old city we had some free time to go shopping. It was this very long street full of shops. We went into souvenir shops searching for presents for our families. We also went into a clothing shop and me and Maité tried on a white dress but it was way too small, it was really funny.

Dinner

After our shopping journey we had to search the resaurant it was a little gaotic but we made it on time. The restaurant was really cozy. I ate ribs and as dessert i had creme brulee. I think it was an amazing thing to do as the last night in Sweden. All together to celebrate the last night. When we got to the hotel we had a little bit off a gaotic night but i think it made a special ad to the trip. A night to remeber!

24/03/2024 the last day:

Vasa museum

When we ate breakfast i obviously ate my toast with butter and jam. After breakfast we started our walk to our last activity. The Vasa museum, the museum is all about the Vasa ship. The ship was created from 1626 till 1628 and on August 10th 1628 the ship was launched into the oceaan. But it didn't last long the ship sailed for about 20 minutes before it sank to the bottom. They found the ship 300 years later and got him out of the water. They restored the ship and put the pieces all back together if you go and look at the ship it is actually 98% real. In the museum you can take a look on all the things that wore in the boad. You can even look at skeletons that were found in the ship, there is even one that they found stuck under a cannon. After the museeum we had some free time to get lunch. We went to this kebab shop but you also had pizzas, but i went for the kebab. It was amazing! After lunch we all went to the hotel to get our bags and start our journey back to Belgium.

Train

When we had our suitcases we started our 20 minute walk to the train station. When we stepped into the train i couldn't believe that we where already going home in my head we were on our way to another activity. The train ride went by really fast and were quickly at the airport.

Plane

After we checked in we got some free time to go to the shops in the airport. I bought water and a fanta. Me and Chloë walked around together and when we saw a plane it hit us. We are going to be on an airplane home. We searched our gate, it changed one time before but we didn't have any difficulties. When the plane ride strarted i was a bit anxious but the moment we steadied it was alright and i read a bit in my book. When we were about to land i held Delphine's hand because i was a bit scared but the landing was fine.

Train home

After we got our luggage back we started walking to the train station and to our correct platform and then got on our train ride home. Everything went smooth but it felt weird i could't believe that i was back in Belgium. When we were close to my stop i said goodbye to everyone. When i got of the train i was reunited with my family. When i finally laid back in my own bed after a week, i looked back at all the memories that we made.

Ik vond dit een super ervaring en wil ook de leerkrachten bedanken die dit een super ervaring hebben kunnen maken. Dit is 1 van de beste beslissingen die ik heb gemaakt om me in te schrijven. Dit is iets dat ik nog jaren zal meedragen. Groetjes Nine
