6th Grade Elective and PE Options

Physical Education Requirement:

All 6th Grade students will take one PE/Pre-Athletics Class. Students also have the option to substitute 1 semester of PE/Pre-Athletics with a semester of Dance. 

Off-Campus PE: To maintain compliance with the Texas Education Code (19 TAC Chapter 74) Leander ISD offers students a waiver process for Off Campus PE programs. This waiver process allows students, who are participating in an approved program outside of school hours, to meet their middle school PE requirement.  Find more about Off-Campus PE in LISD, including qualifications, required applications and deadlines HERE.

Electives:

All 6th graders will take 1 Academic Elective, either QUEST (for QUEST identified students) or Math/ELA Extensions,  and 1 additional elective.  

Elective options include:

• Elective Wheel -  9-week rotations between Art, Theater Arts, Leadership, & Entrepreneurship.

• Cambiata (Boys) Choir 

• Treble (Girls) Choir 

• Beginner Band MS 1 - *Instrument selection is conducted directly through band directors

6th Graders will choose 1 of the above elective options.
