We are here to serve our students by assisting them with academic, personal/social and career planning needs. We do this through classroom guidance lessons, individual planning, consultation with parents and teachers and events and activities.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE NEST?
This month, the counselors are meeting with their grade levels to explore career interests.
In 6th grade, students are learning about career clusters and which career clusters interest them.
In 7th grade, students are exploring career interests by watching videos of people all over the country who have jobs that align with our 7th graders' individual interests.
8th graders will be completing an interest inventory and beginning to think about their 4 year plans for high school.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Leander ISD and your school counselors and staff recognize that mental health issues impact a large number of our students and we want to support students and families as they strive to build mental wellness and cope with mental health challenges.
This month, we want to encourage families to practice positive mental health strategies each day using the calendar developed by our district Student and Family Services Team. You can find it linked here: Mental Health Awareness Month Calendar for Families.
In addition, we will have activities at school to promote MHAM as well including announcements, mini-lessons, and more.

Mental Health Minute

Each week the counseling department shares a social/emotional learning mini-lesson or short LISD-created mental health video on Mondays during student advisory. The video series can be found online at Mental Health Minute Series.
