8th Grade Transition to High School Events for 2026-27 School Year

                                                                                VHS COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION

*Middle school counselors have been working with students to introduce high school transition vocabulary and begin their 4-year plan; their final meeting before the high school counselors visit will be in December.

• Nov 13, 2025- Early College HS Presentation during Advisory (optional for students wanting to learn more.  Sign-up Google Form will be available soon).  

• Dec, 2025  Middle school counselor lesson  to compete four-year plans during ELA classes.

• Jan 13, 2026 8th Grade Parent/Guardian webinar at 5:30 p.m. (more details on VHS Counseling website)

• Jan 15, 2026 - Viper Camp

• Jan 14 & 16, 2026- VHS school counselors present course information to students 

• Jan 22, 2026- Viper Night -5:00 pm - Come & go open house showcasing electives 

  • •  Eighth Grade Parents and students invited to VHS for:

      • Elective fair

      • Club & organization fair

      • Student panels

      • Breakout sessions -ACC Dual Credit, AP Capstone

      • Students and parents are encouraged to take advantage of this evening to explore and learn about all their high school options

• Jan 29, 2026- VHS counselors return to meet with students 1-1 to submit their 9th grade courses (through social studies classes)

• Jan 30, 2026  8th graders submit their 4-years plan for approval.

• Feb 17, 2026 - Tentative course requests visible in Home Access Center

• Feb 17- March 12, 2026- Students will have the opportunity to to request changes to next year’s courses

• May 29, 2026- OCPE Application Due
