8th Grade Transition to High School Events for  2025-26 School Year

                                                                                VHS COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION

*Middle school counselors have been working with students to introduce high school transition vocabulary and begin their 4-year plan; their final meeting before the high school counselors visit will be the week of Feb 10.

• Jan 28, 2025- Student IB (International Baccalaureate) Presentation during Advisory (optional for students wanting to learn more.  Sign-up Google Form will be available soon).  Parents can learn more about IB during Viper Night

• Jan 29, 2025- Early College HS Presentation during Advisory (optional for students wanting to learn more.  Sign-up Google Form will be available soon).  

• Feb 6, 2025 - Viper Camp

• Feb 13, 2025  Middle school counselor lesson  to compete four-year plans during Social Studies.

• Feb 26 & 27, 2025- VHS school counselors present course information to students 

• Mar 3, 2025- Viper Night -5:00 pm - Come & go open house showcasing electives 

  • •  Eighth Grade Parents and students invited to VHS for:

      • Elective fair

      • Club & organization fair

      • Student panels

      • Breakout sessions - International Baccalaureate (IB), ACC Dual Credit, AP Capstone

      • Students and parents are encouraged to take advantage of this evening to explore and learn about all their high school options

• Mar 7, 2025- VHS counselors return to meet with students 1-1 to submit their 9th grade courses (through social studies classes)

• Mar 28, 2025 - Tentative course requests visible in Home Access Center

• April 1- May 1, 2025- Students will have the opportunity to to request changes to next year’s courses

• May 30, 2025- OCPE Application Due
