Here are some important tips to remember when using your device to keep it protected:
Only connect to wifi networks that you know and trust
Wifi networks that are unknown or “open” networks might be set up to maliciously collect user information or gain access to your device. You should only connect your device to trusted networks. Always make sure that public wifi networks come from a reputable source (a library, a reputable business establishment, etc.). If in doubt about what network to use in a public restaurant or business, you should always look to see if the name of the network is posted or ask an employee what the network is called.
Restart your device regularly to receive important software updates
Chromebooks receive regular security and software updates, but those updates are only applied when a device is restarted. You should shut your device down each night to ensure that your device receives software updates the next time it starts up.
