Note about teacher resources:

The resources are pulled directly from the English 11 VA Writing SOL Assessment. English 11 teachers serve as the best guide for implementing these PBA, for they have been teaching the argumentative essay for several years.

Note the tiers are designed to support students at their skill level. For instance, the tier 1 rubric requires students to write a counterargument and a refutation. However, tier 3 are only required to write a counterargument. (The state writing rubric never required students to write a refutation.)
