Unit Overview

  • Students will explore these questions in a range of texts from multiple genres.
  • The anchor text for this unit is Hamlet by William Shakespeare, and students will select a complementary book club or independent reading book.
  • Throughout the quarter, students will:
        • study Hamlet through a multimedia approach, participate in literary discussions, and write to clarify ideas.
        • annotate extensively with an online tool
        • read a book club selection and participate in a variety of discussions and writing assignments.
        • participate in a number of writing practice exercises
        • work on specific writing/grammar skills
        • produce and refine either a personal narrative or a college essay
        • participate in a Socratic seminar
        • reflect on their learning
