Outdoor Dance in Limerick’s Marketsfield

Following a lengthy period searching for a suitable location for outdoor dance, The Partnership was grateful to Limerick Enterprise and Development Partnership to be offered a site for a marquee in Limerick Marketsfield during July 2021. Public health restrictions continue to be particularly prohibitive on indoor dance and finding an outdoor site, suitable for a dance marquee proved challenging. The partnership with Limerick Marketsfield, Limerick Youth Dance, Dance Limerick, Paul Partnership and several youth service providers allowed the LCYP to invite youth groups from Limerick and Clare to workshops in contemporary and hip-hop sessions in the outdoor facility. Some workshop sessions were delivered on the outdoor hard surface of the facility while some were delivered under the marquee cover with all sides open for appropriate ventilation. The young people who had specifically asked for dance, through the consultation process, thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The collaboration with Limerick dance agencies, youth bodies and social development entities proved very successful and augurs well for future dance initiatives in the region.
