Section 1: INVESTIGATING
(500 words minimum)
In this section you must write about what you want to do and what you must learn in order to do it. There are three components:
1a. Goal
- Outline your clear, achievable and highly challenging goal
- you must justify why this goal is highly challenging.
- Explain why this topic is of interest to you
- Explain and justify your choice of Global Context
- You must meaningfully relate your goal to the global context.
1b. Prior Learning
- Show your understanding of your topic by explaining what you already know
- Explain how your current knowledge will help you create your product/outcome
analyse the relevance and contribution of prior learning to the project.
- Identify what you need to learn (new knowledge) and research that will be needed to complete the project
1c. Summary and Analysis of Research
- Discuss the research you conducted. Focus on the most important, varied, and relevant sources. What were the key findings you used from these sources?
- Demonstrate evidence of research skills. Reference to Process Journal.
- Evaluate the sources you used. Here are some questions that can help:
How credible is the author?
How current is the information?
How accurate is the information? Do other sources confirm the information?
How relevant is the information to your project?
Who is the intended audience of the source?
How objective is the source?
Make sure you have a wide variety of sources – books, articles, websites, etc. You must use in-text citations throughout this section of the report and evaluate approximately 3 to 5 specific sources that helped you.
