We are pleased to inform you that all services and classes at the Lawrence Public Schools – Adult Learning Center (LPS-ALC) are offered at no cost. This is made possible through the generous support of the City of Lawrence, Lawrence Public Schools, and the Adult and Community Learning Services unit of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. We are deeply grateful for their funding, which allows us to provide high-quality educational opportunities to our community.
To ensure that you have the best possible learning experience, we kindly ask that you:
Commit to attending every class once enrolled
Participate in a pre-test at enrollment to help us place you in the appropriate class
Take a mid-year assessment after approximately 65 hours of instruction (or earlier if you are unable to continue attending).
Complete a post-test before discontinuing classes so we can measure your progress
Pre- and post-testing is a critical component of our program, as it directly impacts our ability to secure and maintain funding. Our funders rely on these assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of our services and determine future funding allocations. Without a post-test, we cannot receive full credit for the instruction, advising, and support we provide, nor can we accurately assess your learning progress.
If your circumstances change, such as a schedule adjustment, relocation, or an inability to continue attending classes, we ask that you notify your teacher or advisor as soon as possible. Additionally, please make yourself available for a post-test before exiting the program. This simple step helps ensure that we can continue offering free, high-quality educational services to all students.
We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to your education.
Thank you for being a valued part of LPS-ALC.
