MEE After School Club
The Union Avenue Elementary Minecraft Club meets every Monday 2:30 to 3:30pm.

Week 1: Making Unicorns
We started our new club with a competition of who can make the best unicorn. Then we worked to create "beacons" of rainbow colors to make our world more interesting!
Week 2: Chemistry, balloons and flying pigs
Using the Element Creator, Compound Creator, and Crafting table, we worked to make latex to make balloons. Chemistry and fun !
Week 3: Rollercoasters Galore
We worked to learn how to make new slim and regular skins. Then we challenged ourselves to make the best Roller Coasters and Trains! Do you dare to ride them?
Week 4: Making Machines
Using Redstone Dust and blocks or using Observers, we can build any machine!

Minecraft for Education Competition:
Students will have two (2) weeks to Build Union Avenue Elementary as they would like it to be.
Start with the school’s front entrance basic shape and look, then "add" what you can dream!
Criteria: Your project must have the following:
The front of the school (pictures provided)
New and Better environmentally friendly items (solar panels, sky bridges, future playgrounds, etc)
One of the buildings must be constructed using code (per tutorials)
The world may have one or all of the following: Book&Quills, boards, or Signs to show and tell what you did.
Students will enter the competition in groups of 3 to 5 students.
Each group will choose a Team name and Team banner image (to their grade level teacher-see form)
Each world will be reviewed using a RUBRIC here!
Limitation:
You only have 2 weeks CS to complete it! (due Friday December 10th at end of the day)
You can work after school/online with your group!
You will download/export your world and send a copy to Mr. Duarte. (sxde9939@lausd.net)
The best 6 worlds will be chosen for all teachers to see and to vote for the best 3 to win prizes. Best 3 worlds will win a prize for that classroom.
Prizes: $20 dollars McDonalds Cards for the 3 top winners and a Pop-corn party for those 3 classes.
