As part of the PS 6.0 Creative Communicator theme on the use of video, three members of the CC team collaborated to raise the awareness of our school on the importance of Earth Day.
We decided to make it an Earth Day/Week. Teachers were given a choice board to promote different topics during the week before Earth Day. Each of the week, a couple of student created videos were shared with the whole school to show to their classes. We wanted to empower our students be creators of video and not simply consumers.
Students in Mrs. Oshiro's class (1st grade) collaborated with 5th graders to create a video based on an Earth Day song after working and learning about Earth Day. Their skits and video was integrated and edited via IMOVIE.

Students in Mr. Bairamian's class (3rd grade) learned how to create videos using Adobe Express. After studying themes related to Earth Day as part of their English Language Arts program, they researched and produced video representations of their learning.
Students in Mr. Magana's class (5th grade) learned how to create and to edit green screen videos using IMOVIE in Ipads. Their work also complemented their role as part of the school's Student Council to create both videos and posters to inform the whole school of the importance of Earth Day topics like recycling, global warming, and the 5 R's.
