At SCWA we relentlessly strive for excellence. Everything we say and everything we do is underpinned by our core values of respect, inclusion, family, collaboration and perseverance. We are an inclusive and caring family and we are looking forward to the year ahead and working closely with parents/carers, so that we can, together, challenge our young people to be the very best they can be.
Our pastoral system has the highest behavioural standards creating a calm, orderly and safe environment in which students thrive. This booklet is a reminder of our Academy expectations and also contains key information for the new academic year.
Your part in supporting your child’s success here is crucial. You can help us by ensuring your child:
• conforms to our high expectations of uniform, work and conduct
• develops good routines for homework from the very start
• has the correct books and equipment each day for school - our ‘Terrific 10’
• attends punctually as this is essential for academic success
• is not taken out of school during term time : thrives to achieves 97% + attendance
• is constantly praised for good effort and progress
• brings home information about events such as Parents’ evenings
At SCWA we see education as a partnership. Your support in these ways will help your child to have a successful first year at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy.

Your child's Head of School should be contacted if the concerns are ongoing.
In addition to the Student Personal Development Journals, our preferred method of communicating general information to parents and carers is electronically sent direct to your email accounts via Parentmail. General letters and news items are also uploaded to our website (www.scwa.org.uk). Academy publications keep parents and carers up to date with news, events, reminders and diary dates. To receive these regular updates follow us on Twitter or ‘like’ us on Facebook @officialscwa. Please ensure we are able to contact you in the event of an emergency. Let us know immediately of any changes of home address, mobile and landline telephone numbers, email address, or employment.
How and who to contact:
The way we work at secondary school is a little different from primary school. One of the main things you will notice, is the differences in who to contact and how.
Your child will study approximately thirteen different subjects with their respective specialist teachers. If you have a concern about a particular subject (class or homework), we advise you to contact your child's subject teacher directly.
If your request is regarding your child's emotional well being or about concerns which happen out of lessons, we encourage you to contact your child's tutor. Your child will be put in a class from their first day. This will be their tutor group and that teacher should be your first point of contact for questions that are not to do with particular school subjects. Each class will be named after the teacher's initials. Depending on the nature of the concern, the Tutor will pass on the email to the student Support Officers or the Head/Deputy Head of School, but the first contact, should be made with your child's form tutor as they will be the person who will get to know your child best as they will see them every morning. Your child's Head of School should be contacted if the concerns are ongoing.
My Child at School (MCAS)
My Child At School (MCAS) is a website where you can easily check your child’s progress at school and other information. When your child joins the academy you will be provided with an invitation code and username to enable you to log on.
Using MCAS will enable parents/carers to look at a wealth of information including their child’s attendance, school timetable, assessments and exam times.
MCAS is linked directly to our School Management System which means that all the information is updated in real time and available 24 hours a day.
Student Personal Development Journal
Every student at SCWA is given a Personal Development Journal which contains the following essential information (the use of Journals and the content can be subject to change):
