Educational trips, visits and workshops are an important way of enhancing children's learning with real life experiences. In all cases, we try to keep the cost to an absolute minimum, but there will from time to time be a cost involved. This will be communicated in advance via the class newsletter to give parents an idea of what is upcoming in the term. If any parent is having difficulty in making the necessary payment, you can talk to a member of staff in confidence.
Sporting Fixtures
The PE Lead - Mr. Ellis - leads on all sporting fixtures throughout the year including Sports Day. From time to time selected students will be asked to represent the school in football, netball, cricket or athletic fixtures. We try to accommodate these fixtures by using the school minibus to keep costs to a minimum.
SWIMMING
Swimming is a compulsory part of the physical education curriculum for Year 4 pupils. It takes place in Terms 3 & 4 and there is a minimum cost of £1 a week per child to pay for a swimming coach to teach the swimming lesson. Although the children will be taught by a qualified swimming teacher, the children will be accompanied on poolside and by the school minibus by our own Y4 staff.
FOREST SCHOOLS
Cherry Orchard is continually developing it's own Forest school area under the supervision of Mrs. Barber, who is a qualified Forest School lead. Forest school sessions take place during the school day in Years R & 1 as part of the curriculum. In addition, KS1 and KS2 can access Forest School as part of our club offer.
