Before pupils join the Academy and before transition between key stages, we hold parent meetings or workshops highlighting key information about joining and transition.
The following methods of communication should be used:
Class Dojo for general day to day learning communication between class teachers/parents only.
School Dojo for general whole school messages and key events or information for parents. You can toggle between class/school stories.
You can download the Dojo app: Apple or Google on these links
In addition to the above the following communication platforms are used:
Termly School Bulletins to inform parents of key events and information.
Termly Class Newsletters via Dojo and website.
LACO Calendar of Events detailing forthcoming events.
Tapestry in Early Years and Pre-school for learning logs.
Emails between the office/parents to raise a query, concern or complaint.
Telephone calls/messages for urgent parent contact.
Dedicated absence line/messaging service for daily absence.
MCaS (My Child at School) to book and pay for clubs, trips, lunches and purchases as well as book parent consultations
MCaS also shows attendance, assessment, reports and other important documents.
To download the MCas App: Google or Apple
Further information can be found about our Curriculum, SEN offer, Policies or our website by clicking on the names tabs.
How to raise queries and concerns
Initial minor queries or concerns should be directed to the class teacher or office staff, then APs, before VPs, and finally the Principal unless this is a safeguarding concern which should immediately be raised with the safeguarding team.
Most staff members spend every moment of their day with children; therefore we ask that you are patient in waiting for a specific response; the team member will try to respond as soon as they can. We will not respond during evenings or weekends.
Appointments
We always endeavour to address your concerns promptly.
If you wish to have a face to face meeting, we kindly request you make an appointment in advance, giving a brief outline of your concerns, to allow the member of staff sufficient time to investigate and facilitate a productive meeting.
This will hopefully allow us to resolve and address your query satisfactorily.
Office contact details
The office email address is info@cherryorchard.latrust.org.uk Telephone: 01322 242011
The office is manned during term time only between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:15 pm. Outside of these times, please leave a message on the answer phone and a member of the team will get back to you. If your call is not urgent, please email in the first instance and the team will respond in a timely manner.
Emails
The office email address should also be used if you wish to make contact with the Leadership Team / SENCO or FLO. This should only be if you feel your query has not been resolved by the class teacher or is more appropriate to be discussed with a member of the Leadership Team. It should be clearly stated in the email who the intended recipient of the email is.
Please note that members of the Academy team do not send or reply to emails from their direct email address. Emailing directly to a member of staff means that you have circumvented our communication procedures and therefore are at risk of receiving no response.
Parent Consultations
We have two formal consultation afternoon /evenings in Terms 2 & 4 and one informal one in Term 6 as part of our transition week.
Feel Proud Fridays
Once a term (usually the penultimate Friday in the term), parents will be able to accompany their children into the classroom after dismissal to look at books and displayed work. This is a child led session as teachers may not necessarily be in the classroom.
