Dear Parent[s] and Carer[s],
Once again, we end the module with a bumper filled newsletter to celebrate all of the wonderful things our learning community has achieved together. The Spring edition is always my favourite, as it includes the drama performance, and this year our thespians didn’t disappoint us with their amazing performance of Annie! The entire performing arts team was magnificent, and all involved should be extremely proud of what they achieved.
We have welcomed an array of external speakers in, such as Jade Barnett, ambassador for Barnados, Connected Futures and The Diana Awards (who spoke on International Women's Day); Professor Claire Donovan, Greenwich University and LAB Chair of Governors; and Gina Osman, from Multiverse, for the annual ‘Pathways to your Future’ event for year 10 students and LAB16 TOK (Theory of Knowledge) lectures. Many more will be joining us as we move toward the summer, and we are all looking forward to Module 6 when our LABTalks lecture programme launches for KS4 and 5 students. Keep an eye on LABWeekly for more information on how to book.
Students from year 7 to year 12 have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in a range of trips and visits, including those to the Globe Theatre, Blackheath Halls, Cambridge University, and of course the ski trip to Italy. As we approach the summer months, we will see more opportunities for students to participate in trips and to extend their learning beyond the classroom. DofE season is nearly upon us, with 65 students going on their bronze expedition, and 45 on their silver.
We were delighted to be recognised this week as a Champion School by Tender UK, as part of their Healthy Relationships Award programme. Supported by the Mayor of London, the RESET programme recognises schools that have created a nurturing culture to support students' varied social, emotional and mental health needs. Throughout module 4, Marie Horner from Tender UK has delivered a series of sessions for parents and carers on Online safety for their children.
We wish everyone a very peaceful spring break, and send our best wishes to families who are celebrating one of many cultural festivals over the two week period.
We look forward to welcoming students back to LAB from 8.00am on Monday 15th April.
Mrs Smith
