Dear Parent[s] and Carer[s],
We cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by! During modules 3 and 4, our Airy college community continues to thrive as we come to the end of yet another busy and productive term. Airy college attendance ends Module 4 with a year to date attendance figure of 93%. This is well above national average, although there is still some work to do to get this to the minimum target of 95% across all tutor groups. We look forward to working hard to meet that target by the end of the year.
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book day at LAB on Thursday 7th March. The Airy college staff and students did not disappoint with their efforts in dressing up as their favourite book characters and joining in with all of the activities throughout the event. It was great to see so many students and staff taking part in the annual celebration.
Can you guess the Airy college theme this year?
Annie Production
We were extremely proud of yet another phenomenal whole school production. This year's performance of Annie was, once again, the highlight of the year. So many Airy college students took part. A special mention to the following Airy students in this regard;

Minds Up and Y7 Nurture UK workshops
Students across all year groups and colleges continue to take part in the bespoke workshops (run by the charity Mind) to support young people in improving their resilience and understanding with regards to how they can support themselves with maintaining positive mental wellbeing.
As part of our ongoing work with the Nurturing schools programme (with Nurture UK and Tender), we were delighted to invite Marie Horner from Tender to deliver bespoke workshops to a selected group of year 7 students on Online Safety & Responsible Use of Technology.
These workshops aimed to explore relationship education and share how we can all support our children to have happy, safe and fulfilling relationships with others and themselves. The sessions explored themes on How to stay safe; healthy behaviours online; and using technology, alongside supporting children facing change, and supporting children to manage their emotions.
Airy Student Celebrations
Airy college currently stands at 93% attendance so far this year. Year 7 Airy students continue to top the leaderboard for attendance with 94.3 % attendance since September.
Year 7 are also top of the leaderboard with the most merits in Airy, with an impressive total of 10749 merits! A huge well done to 7F with the highest merit total across the college of 4387.
This module, Y10 students took part in their very first round of GCSE PPE mock exams. We were all very proud of how mature and committed our students were during these exams. Year 11 students also undertook further mock exams in their Ebacc subjects. It has been wonderful to see how positively students across both year groups have engaged with the challenge and dedication to their studies.
A special mention to 7C, 9C and 11F who all meet the 95% target.
Congratulations to Tom and Megan (9F) in their recent success passing their music exams. Tom received a Grade 1 Pass for his Piano and Megan passed her Grade 2 singing (in the genre of Musical Theatre Performance) with a Distinction.
Airy Stars and Student of the Fortnight
Each module in Airy we celebrate and recognize students in the college that have gone above and beyond each week. Students who have consistently demonstrated the LAB values of Ambition, Integrity, Resilience, Scholarship and Respect are celebrated and recognised by our college community. Each week the tutors have been nominating a member of their tutor group and identifying the reason for their nomination. The wider Airy college team then votes for the winning student.
Each student has received additional LAB Ambassador merits. All students nominated receive appreciations in virtual assemblies with the reasons they have been nominated also shared.

Highest Merit Rewards Party
We have also celebrated Airy students that have the highest number of conduct points across each each Airy tutor group. This module students chose to celebrate this with Krispy Cream doughnuts! Airy staff also selected some additional students to join for personal achievement.
Module 3 & 4 Celebration Breakfast
At the end of each module we also have the opportunity to invite students to attend our Airy Celebration Breakfast. Students will be invited for constantly displaying the LAB values and for collecting the highest amount of merits. The event falls on the last week of the module.
Digital reminders
We continue to work with students and parents and carers to encourage students to be digitally responsible. Whilst we expect students to live our values at all times, we cannot of course supervise the behaviour of students outside of school on social media. We would ask, therefore, that all parent[s] and carer[s] continue to monitor their child’s use of social media.
As I’m sure you will appreciate, the resulting fallout of any unkindness on social media can have implications for harmonious relationships within school and a resulting negative impact on teaching and learning.
For more information on how to monitor your child’s use of social media, please visit: https://www.net-aware.org.uk/tips-and-advice/
If you seek additional advice and support in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy.
