The human uses of the tree span a variety of areas, and professions. Many people use the Holly Tree for its physical appearance, and beauty. Especially around the holidays, you will notice many homes decorated with Holly Wreaths as way to bring about holiday cheer. Many people have traditionally used the leaves of the trees for medicinal and food purposes. For example, Native Americans created American Holly Fruit Tree, which they used as a natural stimulant
The environmental benefits of the holly tree, are wide and pronounced. The Holly Tree is oftentimes used to restore forests damaged by forest and wildfires. And has been known to be a large part of rebuilding forests that have been badly damaged. Additionally they produce nectar during the summer months to butterflies and other insects. They also provide shelter to animals such as the gray squirrel in the winter. Making it an all around, fundamental part of any ecosystem.
