The Master Course List for Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an administration tool for counselors, teachers, and staff's use in student schedule building and enrollment in the Texas State Data System (TSDS) with the appropriate TSDS PEIMS codes. The guide can also be helpful in assisting students in building their high school personal graduation plans.
The courses are organized into two sections: Career Development and Career and Technical Education. Career Development courses are classified as either middle or high school and CTE courses are listed by career cluster. The grade placement, credit, prerequisite and co-requisite requirements for each course are listed as well as the TSDS PEIMS code needed for accurate enrollment.

CTE courses for science and mathematics graduation credit
Teachers who are not certified in CTE and who wish to teach one of the CTE courses for mathematics or science credit must complete CTE 101. This course provides an overview of Career and Technical Education in Texas and how it is implemented at the state and local levels. CTE-certified teachers may complete CTE 101, but this is not a requirement. CPE credit is 4 hours.
CTE Work-based Learning Course
This course introduces basic laws, rules, and procedures relevant to teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that involve work-based learning (WBL) at the secondary school level in Texas. Because state and federal laws change frequently, it also explains how to find current laws, rules, and guidelines related to WBL. Teachers will learn what authentic WBL is and how to ensure students learn the skills and knowledge appropriate for their career pathway through collaborative partnerships with local employers.
