What is Sport/Leisure?
Ever thought about making your hobby into a career?
Sports & Leisure offers a range of job roles to those who want to be on their feet and being active as much as possible. You may consider becoming a Coach or a Personal Trainer, who directly work with athletes of all levels to improve their physical performance.
Alternatively, you could support the wider health and wellbeing of an athlete by becoming a Sports Therapist or a Sports Psychologist.
You may even consider becoming a sports professional yourself!
Why is it important?
Sports provide both a social and mental health boost to those who enjoy them. It encourages us to develop skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership while also providing a sense of discipline to work hard, train properly and eat a balanced diet.
Sports also provide a strong economic boost the the U.K. Football stadiums, such as Old Trafford and Wembley, are huge tourist attractions and host huge audiences for a variety of activities beyond football while Scotland hosts some of the best golf courses in the world and attractions millions of visitors to play every year.

Important to know
Sports contributes a whopping £39 billion pounds to the UK economy through job opportunities and boosting health and wellbeing.
Glasgow (4th), Edinburgh (8th), Aberdeen (12th) and Stirling Universities (13th) all rank in the top 15 Uk universities for Sports Science degrees.
In 2023/24, £36.7 million will be invested into creating more job opportunities within sport in Scotland
