What are the Performing Arts/Media?
It's all about being creative and thinking outside the box!
If you're expressive and imaginative, you may consider performing on stage in front of live audiences to Sing, Dance or Act. If working in front of a camera interests you more, you could consider roles such as TV Presenter or Reporter to cover topics like Sports, Politics, Health and many others.
If you would prefer a role behind the scenes, you could explore roles such as Sound Designers or VFX Artists, who work on creating memorable effects on big budget TV shows and movies such as Star Wars, Frozen and Moana.
Why is it important?
Creative individuals can look at the world differently and come up with fascinating, original concepts to entertain us all. Famous musicians like Harry Styles and Ariana Grande utilise the skills of Wardrobe Designers, Back-up Dancers and Choreographers to perform to the highest level possible when on stage. Working together, these individuals make up the Creative Industries Sector.
Ths Sector is thriving in Scotland, with several recent productions using Scotland's diverse landscape as a setting. These include Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and Outlander, which is filmed at Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld. These productions greatly benefit Scotland's economy by encouraging tourists to visit and, as a result, encourage future investment into this sector so that more jobs and opportunities are made available.
