This course is recommended for any student who plans to pursue business at a two or four-year college. Students interested in owning their own business are also encouraged to take the class because this course stresses the challenges and opportunities that managers find themselves in throughout their careers.
Specific topics practiced include, the evolution of management, the manager as a person, ethics, social responsibility, diversity, the global environment of business, human resource mgmt., leadership, motivation, effective teams, conflict, negotiation and technology.
This course will provide an introduction to skills essential for success in a career in marketing. Students will take a step-by-step journey through the world of marketing. Included in this course are concepts such as, developing a product pitch, how customers react to changes in packaging, pricing and promotions, how research plays into the success of a product, what makes local, national and global advertising successful, marketing yourself and how social media plays into your personal brand, and what goes into marketing sports teams and entertainment figures.
Students who take this class find themselves, completing chapter activities, talking about current events, reading business articles, working on the Internet, working in groups on projects, making presentations, video taping commercials, watching relevant videos and solving case studies.
This class can be taken for HVCC credit. The cost is $195 or free depending on your situation.
