The objective of this course is to provide students with a solid foundation of basic accounting skills that will accompany them throughout their lives.
This course is recommended for students who plan to major/minor in business while at college, own their own business or become an entry level bookkeeper or accounting clerk after graduation. Accounting is useful regardless of your job responsibilities. Emphasis is placed on a thorough understanding of double-entry accounting including assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, financial statements, ledgers, journals and payroll as they are used in all types of business. Computers are used as often as possible. This course may be used as part of a math sequence for all students. Students may also opt to take the course for college credit through Hudson Valley Community College at a reduced ($260) tuition rate or free depending on your circumstances.
