40 Weeks - 1 Unit AND 3 HVCC Credits
Grades 9-12
You will become proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher as well as Google Classroom and Google Sites.
The MS Word unit will include basic and advanced formatting techniques. You will become a faster typist while create flyers, business letters, tables, drawings, newsletters, and organizational charts. The MS Excel unit will teach you how to set-up and format a spreadsheets, how to add/subtract/multiply/divide and other advanced mathematical calculations, and create graphs. Using PowerPoint, you will learn how to set-up and format a presentation, add video, sound, animations, transitions and timings so that the presentation will run on its own. Using MS Access students will be able to develop databases and then be able to create a mail merge which is a desirable skill for employment. In Publisher, students will learn advanced desktop publishing techniques and work with templates.
Each day students will be interacting with Google Classroom and at the end of the course, students will create a personal website using Google Sites.
Students will also find the skills they acquire are transferable to high school and college as well as lifetime learning.
BCA is recommended for students who want a solid foundation in computer skills for college and employment.
Students may opt for college (Hudson Valley Community College) credit at a reduced rate of $195 or free depending on your situation.
