Grades 9-12
The course is computer based using Google Applications, Microsoft Office, as well as many internet sites (ex. NYS Career Zone, NYS Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook) to gather information to use when making career and college decisions. We will explore careers, education needed and expense of that education, salary for the careers and the job outlook. Students will design resumes, fill out actual job applications, and learn how to interview for a job.
On the financial side, you will learn how to shop on a budget, shop for a car, apartment, and house. What happens in the future when life changes? We will add college, marriage, children and life happenings to your budget so that you will have to make adjustments. Auto, medical, and life insurance will be discussed. Finally, we will talk about planning for retirement early in your career.
