Principal's Message:

This week we hosted a wonderful meeting with representatives from the International Baccalaureate. They were interested to see how we have implemented the Primary Years Programme at our school. They were so impressed with the learning that the children were doing. The children were able to make links with other areas of the curriculum and prior knowledge they had learned in their previous units. They were also astounded by the high quality learning environments that the wonderful staff have created for our children.

I was so proud to be able to showcase the school to our visitors.

We have already sent a couple of reminders to complete the LAT Parent Survey and we have had many responses already. Thank you to those who have already responded. Please do take the time to complete it as the feedback received already has been invaluable.

Tonight is the Light Up Festival in Maidstone so I am looking forward to seeing those who have signed up there!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Miss Brading

National Online Safety Guide

Most parents and carers chat frequently with their child(ren) about how things are doing at school or what's happening in a friendship group, however such discussions often don't extend to a child's online activities. In fact, National Online Safety recently conducted a survey that found only slightly more than half (54%) of parents/carers speak to their child(ren) regularly about staying safe online.

Online activity can be an awkward topic to broach and, of course, it needs to not feel intrusive. However, simply checking in with your child about their digital life can get them thinking about online safety and alert you to any issues they might be having.

Tuesday 7th February is Safer Internet Day and, in support of this, the guide below offers a number of useful tips on how to approach a conversation with your child around online activity. These tips include being as honest as possible, discussing how misleading the online world can be and creating a 'family agreement'.
