It's been an incredible term for so many reasons. This year has been such a positive start for so many of our children, I am sure that you'll agree. The fact that we have seen over 23,000 positive points being awarded to our children just this term demonstrates the tremendous effort that children are putting in to be the best versions of themselves.
This issue of the newsletter is for you to find out about your child's learning and notable moments from the term. Below I have highlighted some very recent celebrations that deserve acknowledgement.
Black History Month Picture News Assembly
Children at LALP joined a special Picture News assembly with the wonderful Swarzy, a Radio 1 presenter, to recognise Black History Month as part of our ongoing celebration of diversity within our academy and community. We were joined by just over 384,000 children from all around the UK (and a few from around the world!)!
Bingo Night
Thank you to all of our families who supported our Bingo Night on Friday 11th October. It was a huge success with an amazing £550 being raised. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together and we hope that those who attended had lots of fun. We know we certainly did!
Year 5 Harvest Musical
This week, Year 5 performed their Harvest Musical and what a performance! The acting was exceptional, the singing was incredible and the dancing was brilliant. It was a truly wonderful show that was a joy to watch. Thank you to all of the parents for supporting their children, they loved sharing their hard work with you.
Year 6 Restart a Heart Workshop
We think it is really important to upskill our children in so many ways beyond the conventional academic subjects to be able to prepare them for the future. One way we do this is by having them engage with a "Restart a Heart" workshop. This workshop is centred on training the children on basic CPR practice to prepare them if they were ever to find themselves in a position where they may need to help someone who is experiencing a medical emergency. The children engaged extremely well and found it to be a valuable experiences.
Year 2 Petaholics Workshop
As you know, we love animals at Langley Park so this was the perfect workshop to enrich Year 2's current unit of inquiry. They enjoyed hearing about different reptiles and were even able to hold some of the creatures. They loved the experience and were so excited to meet the critters!
Year 4 Pizza Workshop
Those of you who attended our Music Festival in the summer term may remember the delicious pizzas provided by Nick the Chef, a friend of Langley Park. This week, it was Year 4's turn to become pizza connaisseurs and create their own masterpieces under the guidance of Nick the Chef. We certainly have some budding chefs judging by the incredible pizzas!
