Orientation to Teaching II is designed to integrate psychological, sociological, and philosophical foundations which prepare students for positive field experiences. This course encourages prospective teachers to become responsible, professional, and ethical as they explore the teaching profession. During practicum, students will have 60 hours of field experiences with various educators, grade levels, subject areas, and ability groups. Students will be responsible for preparing lessons, assisting cooperating teachers with materials, grading, or planning, and for conducting themselves in a respectful manner. At the conclusion of this course, students will participate in a simulated teacher-candidate interview.
Do you excel at a particular subject?
Do you find yourself helping your friends with their homework?
Why not take Orientation to Teaching 2 and have the opportunity to teach classes at Lakeside and work under a cooperating teacher within the building of your choice?
Lakeside also has an Educators of Tomorrow club. Anyone interested in Education can join the club, you do not have to be enrolled in Orientation to Teaching. We have monthly meetings with guest speakers, we travel to colleges to tour their Education programs, volunteer at club fairs, and participate in extracurricular projects such as Broadcasting's LipDub.
