Values - Ngā is a plural in Māori and Uara is value. Together, Ngā Uara means values.
Reliable - Totika means to be reliable
Being reliable is important at Kohimarama school as you can be a totika friend, learner, sports person, musician or dancer!
Tika means something is right or correct, Tōtika is the act of being correct, or reliable!
Honest - Matatika means to be honest and display honesty.
Mata means surface, or the face of something, and Tika means to be correct. Together, this means being honest.
Friendly - Hoa means friend, Hoa hoa means to be friendly. We have very friendly tauira (students) at Kohimarama School!
Committed - Being committed to your learning, team or school wide activity is an awesome thing to do at Kohimarama School!
Compassion - Aroha is a word that has many meanings. It can mean, to feel and give, love, care, empathy and compassion.
Respect - Whakaute is an important value at Kohimarama School. It shows that we have aroha for everyone and everything around us. We show whakaute to our peers, teachers and school.
Tau tatau are our counting numbers.
Numbers in te reo are said as full words and work great with a 10’s frame that we use in math!

Matariki is the name of both the a star cluster, and the Māori New Year.
