Ako means to learn, ara means the way
Together this means the way we in which we learn - at Kohimarama school we call this the learner dispositions.
Auahatanga (pronounced, au-aha-tanga) means to be creative. We value creative at Kohimarama school as we like to see every student enjoy themselves and express their own auahatanga in their ako (learning)
Collaboration or to collaborate - being about to mahi tahi, or collaborate is a ka rawe skill to have when is comes to our ako (learning). If we can mahi tahi it means we can work with a range of tauira (students) and learn from each others strengths.
Effective communicator - korero means to talk or hold a conversation. The combination of kai and korero means to give out conversation or speak in front of a group or be an effective communicator.
Self motivated - Being a self motivated learner means you drive your own learning and push yourself through challenges.
Curious - Mahira means to be curious. Being Curious in our learning is how learn new things. To be curious means we ask questions, do research, hypothesise and try to solve problems
Reflective - it is good to be reflective in our learning so we look back and see the things that we could, change, improve on, or try a differently next time!
