Bearden Elementary School’s 3rd grade students visited the zoo as part of an engaging field trip designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. The trip supported Tennessee state standards in both English Language Arts and science by allowing students to observe firsthand how animals use their environment to survive. While exploring different habitats, students gathered details about animal behaviors, adaptations, and interactions with their surroundings. They then applied ELA skills by recording observations, asking and answering questions, and organizing information to explain how each animal’s environment meets its needs. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of ecosystems while strengthening reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Check out the 2nd grade's exciting field trip to Safety City! This engaging journey aligns with the Tennessee State Standard for car, bicycle, and pedestrian safety, providing students with essential knowledge and skills to stay safe in their communities. At Safety City, students will participate in hands-on activities that simulate real-world traffic scenarios. They'll learn the importance of traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalks, and bicycle safety rules in a fun, interactive environment. This field trip is designed to empower our young learners with the confidence and understanding needed to navigate safely, whether they're walking, biking, or riding in a car.
Thanks to Ms. Parker, Bearden Elementary School’s 3rd–5th graders enjoyed a memorable field trip to the Tennessee Theatre to experience a live symphony performance. The orchestra played beautiful classical pieces that took students on a musical journey across the United States. From the lively sounds of the big cities to the peaceful melodies of the countryside, the performance helped students imagine the sights and stories of different places through music. It was an inspiring and educational adventure that brought the magic of the symphony to life.
Bearden Elementary School’s 5th graders are heading to JA BizTown for an exciting, hands-on learning experience! At BizTown, students will step into the roles of business leaders, employees, and consumers as they run a simulated city. This interactive field trip connects classroom lessons in economics, financial literacy, and teamwork to real-world applications, helping students understand how businesses and communities work together. It’s a day of discovery, responsibility, and fun as our young citizens bring their learning to life!
