Literacy instruction has so many moving parts to it! Sometimes it feels almost impossible to know what we should and should not include in our literacy block. Recently, the Science of Reading has been brought to the forefront of conversations surrounding literacy instruction at both the professional and the legislative level. This sectional will examine common questions, concerns, and misunderstandings associated with this term, and explore instructional designs that can support all students in their journeys of becoming strong readers.
Amy Mamerow serves at St. Matthew’s, Oconomowoc, in a dual role as the director of instruction and reading specialist. Previously, she taught first grade for over 30 years. Amy is also an adjunct instructor at WLC. When she’s not busy talking about reading, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking cruises, and exploring Wisconsin’s UTV trails.
