Brief Introduction: This course offers a very brief introduction to the texts in Western and Sanskrit traditions of Literary Criticism up to the Nineteenth century. Though because of logistic and practical limitations, the course includes texts from these two traditions, it is expected that students will become aware of the existence of many alternative traditions

Internal Assessment
This course will attempt to give students an opportunity for continuous assessment. Accordingly after the completion of each sub-unit , they will be required to write an analytical or reflective essay of approximately 750 words, on the discussion and texts of the respective sub-unit. For each of them, total time will be 1 Hour and maximum marks will be 20.
