This course offers a very brief introduction to the texts in Western tradition of Literary Criticism up to the Nineteenth century. Though because of logistic and practical limitations the course includes texts from the Western tradition, it is expected that students will become aware of existence many alternative traditions and the limitations inherent in the Western traditions.

There will be two term papers on assigned topics, of ± 1000 words long. Term papers are to be written following guidelines laid out in MLA Style Center (https://style.mla.org/) Since you have already completed the Academic Writing course, these guidelines are already familiar to you. Further, apply the skills and strategies you are now learning in the Advanced Academic writing course to write your term paper. Term papers should be submitted as a scanned pdf of handwritten papers; no printed papers are required. MLA Style Center guidelines need to be adapted to the handwritten format. Talk to the teacher regarding those adaptations. More details regarding the term papers will be posted during the teaching semester. Plagiarism policies as discussed in the MLA Style Center (as indicated above) will apply on both the term papers. Any plagiarized paper will be evaluated with a zero [0] score.
