Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. The start of the academic year always brings a wave of excitement and anticipation, and this year was no exception. After the initial exhilaration of reuniting with friends and teachers, it's heartening to report that our students have swiftly settled back into their routines. The hallways and classrooms of KISU are buzzing with the warmth and camaraderie that we so cherish.
We want to assure you that at KISU, our aspirations for each student are high. We envision their potential not just in terms of academic achievement, but as holistic growth across all aspects of their development. Our standards remain high because we believe in each student's capability to meet, and even surpass them.
Our dedicated secondary team is more committed than ever to ensuring the continuous growth of every KISU student. Through collaboration, mentorship, and passion, we are all working tirelessly to provide an environment where your child can thrive.
In entrusting us with your child's academic and personal development, you have bestowed upon us both a privilege and a responsibility. We deeply value this trust and are committed to upholding it.
Thank you for being an integral part of the KISU community. Together, we look forward to a year filled with achievements, learning, and growth.
Warm regards,
The Secondary Team.

All English teachers will confirm that ‘a student who is an ardent reader will be an excellent writer’. The English Department at KISU has always had reading at the heartbeat of our lessons, however we are always reviving a deep passion for reading in the secondary school. Why should Reading be our Success Story? According to Nidhi Agarwal ‘A child who reads will be an adult who thinks’, so a consistent reading Culture is vital for fostering intellectual growth, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning. Here are Ten strategies the Department has put in place to revamp a strong reading culture in our students:
1. Creating a Reading-Friendly Environment: KISU has designed comfortable reading spaces within the school where students can relax and read.
2. Establishing a well-stocked school library with a diverse range of books, magazines, and digital resources.
3. Teachers have set up reading corners in their classrooms.
4. Setting up Book Clubs and Reading Programs- See our CCA’s
5. At Key stage 3 the department has one reading lesson per week to read, discuss books and share recommendations.
6. The department offers incentives or rewards for students that model excellent reading habits.
7. During the book week, Author Visits and Book Fairs are arranged.
8. During the poetry Slam, the department will organize visits from authors, illustrators, or guest speakers to inspire students and connect them with the world of Literature.
9. Using the librarian and teachers as a resource for recommending books that cater to students' individual interests and reading levels.
10 Parental Involvement: Encouraging parents to actively participate in their child's reading habits by setting aside family reading time or attending school book-related events.
By implementing these strategies and fostering a culture that values and celebrates reading, secondary schools can create an environment where students are motivated to read, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong passion for books and learning.
The Humanities department at KISU is about giving students access to critical thinking skills, appreciation of research, understanding of cultures, our physical world, the organisation of societies, the complexities of leadership, the art of communication, current affairs and the challenge of change. Students are walked through these ideas through a variety of methods including research, discussion, debates and presentations. We work with a variety of resources including books, interviews, videos and audios as well other internet materials to come up with the most appropriate knowledge and thinking. In all our teaching, we embrace practical skills that help students become life-long learners. Our department encompasses the subjects of History, Geography, Business studies [from year 10 to DP 2], Global perspectives [year 10-11], Digital societies [IBDP] and IT.
We plan to conduct a number of excursions/ field trips to embrace authentic learning in various places where students will have first hand encounters with the learning communities. Students produce work in writing, pictorials, graphics as well as models which present new perspectives to knowledge.
