Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls
We are delighted to welcome our students and families back for an exciting year of learning and growth. To kick off the term, Year 2CS took their learning outdoors, exploring maths through hands-on activities using chalk and interlocking cubes.
The children worked in groups, counting their interlocking cubes by making tens and identifying any ones that were left over. They then recorded their answers on the ground using chalk.
Outdoor learning allows children to apply their knowledge in fun and meaningful ways. Being outside not only makes lessons engaging but also supports well-being by providing fresh air, movement, and a change of environment. The laughter, focus, and energy were a reminder of how much joy learning can bring.
We look forward to more opportunities for outdoor, hands-on learning and exploration throughout the year!

Year 1 - Toys Past and Present
What an exciting start to Year 1! Last week, the children were introduced to our new topic with a special hook lesson all about toys from the past and present.
The classroom was buzzing with curiosity as the children explored a range of toys – some modern and familiar, and others from long ago. They had the chance to look closely, touch, and even play with some examples, sparking brilliant conversations about how toys have changed over time.
This week, the children compared old and new toys, noticing differences in materials, design, and how they are used. Many were surprised to find that some toys, like dolls and teddy bears, have been loved by children for generations, even if they look a little different today!
This activity really inspired our learners and set the stage for the term’s work. We can’t wait to continue our journey into the history of toys and see how children’s play has evolved through the years!

2CN - A Wonderful Start To The Year!
What a fantastic start our Year 2CN students have had! From the very first day, they settled quickly into their new classrooms, showing they were more than ready to pick up right where they left off in Year 1. Confident, cheerful, and full of energy – it’s been a joy to welcome them back.
In our first two weeks, we’ve already been busy! The children created wonderful self-portraits and proudly signed our Class Agreement using colourful handprints – a special way to show their commitment to being kind, respectful, and ready to learn.
We’re all excited to build on our skills, brick by brick, as we take on new challenges this year. One exciting addition is English Drama, now taught by a specialist drama teacher – the students are already loving the chance to express themselves in new ways. Swimming lessons have begun in the heated pool, and there’s been plenty of excitement about the brand-new Key Stage One playground equipment too!
With a little more structure, higher expectations, and growing responsibilities, our Year 2s are rising to the occasion beautifully. We can’t wait to see their confidence grow as the term continues. Well done, Year 2CN – you’ve made a brilliant start!

Art
Art is a universal language that transcends boundaries, conveying thoughts, emotions, and stories in ways that words often cannot. It captures the essence of the human experience—our joys, struggles, dreams, and questions—through colour, form, sound, and movement.
The children have demonstrated remarkable creativity and originality in their artistic expressions. I am truly impressed by their efforts. Well done to everyone involved.
