Welcome to Reception!
The children are back at school, filling our Reception classroom with laughter, memories — and of course, a handprints on the toys and walls! After all, what’s a school without children?
During our first week, we spent time getting to know the children, learning about their likes and dislikes, and meeting their families. Together, we established our class rules and expectations and even wondered what our school might look like if we didn’t have any rules at all!
We also began exploring our new focus story, Owl Babies. The story’s about three baby owls who feel nervous and scared when their mother leaves, but are comforted and reassured when she returns. This helped us talk about how it’s perfectly normal to feel anxious when we’re away from our parents — and that at school, we can also seek comfort from our teachers as we make new friends.
We look forward to a fantastic academic year ahead, full of discovery, creativity, learning from mistakes, and helping each child grow and thrive to their fullest potential.

Learning to identify, name and sort colours.
Our children have had a very busy start to the new academic year. The excitement of going to the Lego Room and trying new new things, remains one of the highlights of our school week. Ms. Terry taught us how to work together by identifying, naming and sorting colours. We listened attentively as we were shown how to sort by colour with everyday objects and then with blocks.
*This is an amazing activity that enhances cognitive skills and fine motor skills through handling small objects These activities build concentration and social skills, encouraging our children to work together.
*Our children are making beautiful strides all the time!

Messy play is a valuable and enriching activity that encourages children to explore, experiment, and learn through sensory experiences.
It allows them to engage with a variety of textures, materials, and tools in an open-ended manner, promoting creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking.
It was wonderful to observe the children actively participating in both yoga and messy play, clearly enjoying the opportunity to learn through movement and sensory exploration.
