DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
A warm welcome back to all our students, staff and parents, the academic year 2025/26 is upon us. And, like so many years that have gone before, it will be finished in the blink of an eye, so let’s make sure we make the most of it and make every day count.
In the first newsletter of the year I want to talk about embracing our mistakes… owning them… taking accountability for them… and learning from them. A person who learns from their mistakes is wise.
Something I often say to students is ‘I will be kind to your potential.’ This means that a student may not get what they want right now (such as a night off from homework) which they may not see as being kind in the moment. But encouraging your children to be resilient when they least want to be is a wonderful gift to give them and hopefully this will help them achieve success in life… something we all want for the students at KISU.
Many of the traditions that Mr Lee had in his time here will be continued under my time here such as 'Director's Breakfast' and 'Kitenje Friday' for staff.
With iGCSE and IB results coming out over the summer it shows that we are a school that gets good results but continuous improvement is what we must all be looking for year upon year.
Our CCA program is under way and I hope all of your children will be taking full advantage of the things on offer here at KISU.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you as the year progresses.
Michael Starkie
