Aims of the Course

Cambridge IGCSE Physics enables learners to:

increase their understanding of the technological world
take an informed interest in scientific matters
recognise the usefulness (and limitations) of scientific method, and how to apply this to other disciplines and in everyday life
develop relevant attitudes, such as a concern for accuracy and precision, objectivity, integrity, enquiry, initiative and inventiveness
develop an interest in, and care for, the environment
better understand the influence and limitations placed on scientific study
develop an understanding of the scientific skills essential for both further study and everyday life.

The broad areas of study are:

All candidates take three components.

Core students do Paper 1, Paper 3 and Paper 6. Grades for core range from C—G.

Extended students do Paper 2, Paper 4 and Paper 6. Grades for extended range from A* - G.

Students who choose IGCSE Physics should have:

Interest in Physical Principles: Strong desire to understand the laws that govern the physical universe.
Scientific and Mathematical Foundation: Solid knowledge of basic scientific and mathematical concepts.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to approach challenges logically and develop solutions.
Practical Experimentation: Willingness to conduct experiments and reinforce learning through hands-on activities.
Curiosity: A desire to explore how physics relates to everyday life and various phenomena.
