4th class investigated materials. They tried to create a waterproof layer using Vaseline and compared it with a piece of cloth with no waterproof layer.

4th Class did some kitchen chemistry using baking soda and vinegar to create a chemical reaction. They made and painted their own volcanoes using clay.

Fifth Class took scrap paper, tore it up into tiny pieces and soaked in water for an hour. They added some PVA glue and mixed in food dye and glitter. When a pulp was formed they spread it on a homemade screen, and used kitchen towel and a rolling pin to squeeze out as much moisture as possible. Then they left the paper to fully dry before removing from the screen.

We made a worry jar using water, food colouring, glycerine and glitter etc.

We used it everyday for our mindfulness practice.

Junior Infants were investigating different materials to see which are waterproof and which are not.

First class used a CD, balloon and a bottle cap from a plastic drink bottle to make a simple "hovercraft". They discovered how a cushion of air was created when air was released from the balloon by opening the cap. This made the "hovercraft" move freely along a flat even surface.

Junior and Senior Infants made some delicious butter for our morning snack. We did this by placing double cream and a marble into a lunchbox and taking turns shaking it. We learned that when you shake cream for long enough, two things are formed - butter and buttermilk.
