Choose any of the following tasks which will earn you one KMS Bacc Knowledge point.
7.1 Biology Cells
Make a model of a bacteria and virus and produce a short video explaining how they are similar and different to animal and plant cells.
7.1 Biology Cooking Pasta
How does cooking change pasta? Investigate how cooking pasta changes its properties and see if this is linked to how the starch is altered during cooking.
7.1 Chemistry Acids in Action
Research the history of acid-base indicators. Find some examples of indicators, research their colour changes in acids and bases. Give some examples of indicators in everyday life, such as medicine, gardening, and food production.
7.1 Physics Energy Crisis
Write a letter to your local MP or do a role play with a friend (make sure you film it) giving your thoughts on the energy crisis in the UK, explain what you think the government should do.
7.1 Physics Famous Faces
Research a scientist and produce a poster or fact file on this scientist.
Choose any of the following tasks which will earn you two KMS Bacc Knowledge points.
7.2 Biology Safer Testing
List some products in your house that may contain chemicals (not household cleaning chemicals). You could research if the companies use animal testing when making these products. How could they test these products without using animals?
7.2 Physics get Physical
Make a spaghetti tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows. Take photographs of your tower.
Choose the following task which will earn you three KMS Bacc Knowledge points.
7.3 Chemistry Chemical Reactions
Investigate chemical reactions: set up four jars with an iron item, such as a nail (make sure it is not stainless steel). In the first jar, fill it with tap water so the nail is half covered. In second jar, fill with salt water so the nail is half covered. In the third jar, boil some tap water then fully submerge the nail and put a lid on the jar. In the fourth jar, place the nail but nothing else. Leave the jars for a few weeks and document the changes you see. Remember to take pictures. Try to explain the changes. Present your findings on powerpoint slides or record a video.
